Tim Phillips

Tim moved to Argentina in early 2006 as head of business development, Latin America for Carmen Media Group. While in Buenos Aires, he founded Expansion Gaming in the online gaming sector and Tamarind Media, a digital design and development agency working with gaming and non-gaming clients.

After graduating from Oxford University and subsequently The College of Law, London, Tim worked for more than 5 years as a lawyer at the European Commission in Brussels and at international law firm Herbert Smith in London in corporate finance. He spent the following 6 years in commercial roles at BSkyB for Sky Sports and at AOL, where he led the strategy and negotiation of AOL’s interactive advertising relationships with its major clients and agency partners, including all of AOL’s online gaming partnerships.

Tim is a qualified lawyer in England and Wales and is married with two children, both of whom will inevitably speak better Spanish than him. He kite surfs (rarely), and is planning to run across Atacama desert in March 2009, the source of much mirth among his friends.

Kfir Kugler

Kfir joined Expansion in 2008, having been territory manager in charge of Latin America at PartyGaming. He was a member of the start-up team at Empire Online from 2000 to 2006 and was business development director in charge of expansion into the far eastern markets - Japan, China and Singapore. He worked at PartyGaming from early 2007 in London where he forged strong partnerships in the LatAm market, investigating licence opportunities and working on localizing PartyGaming’s product.

Kfir was a platoon commander in the Israeli army before gaining a bachelor of law and business administration at the Interdisciplinary Centre, Hertzliya. He has a diverse background, having run a nightclub, owned and managed a restaurant, and even traded futures at NYT. He permanently moved to Buenos Aires in early 2008, although he spends a good deal of his time in Brazil and other LatAm countries.

Matt Howe

Prior to joining Expansion Gaming, Matt was head of international operations at Betfair in London where he managed the marketing and operations of Betfair’s business in more than 15 countries. Matt worked at Betfair for more than 6 years, during which time he was involved in most aspects of the business, including marketing (in particular as head of online marketing), payments, fraud, and legal affairs, covering all of Betfair’s products: sports exchange, poker, casino and soft games. Before working at Betfair, Matt was head of Microsoft Consumer at AKQA for 3 years, where he delivered multiple campaigns, including for Microsoft Games, Xbox UK, MSN and Expedia. He was a producer at Intelligent Games (PC and console games) in London for 3 years prior to that. He graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a BA (Hons) in Business Information Systems.

Matt is currently spending a good deal of his spare time “re-learning” his poker game, with little financial gain to date. He is also a keen golfer and an active supporter of River Plate football club.

Sorrel Moseley-Williams

Sorrel has lived and worked in Argentina since 1998. She is originally a journalist, and in addition to Expansion Gaming, she currently also works as a section editor for the Buenos Aires Herald (Argentina’s leading English language daily newspaper), and freelance for The Argentimes and BAInsider. Sorrel was production editor at eGaming Review (Pageant Media), one of the world’s leading online gaming publications, for 3 years. She helped organize eGaming Review’s successful first Power LATAM conference at the Buenos Aires Hilton in 2007. She has also worked as a freelancer for various online gaming companies including for Microgaming. Sorrel gained a BA degree in Hispanic Studies at UCL in London and spent a year as an elected communications officer at UCL Union, before working for Incisive Media as a production editor on titles including Hedge Fund Review, International Investment, Mortgage Solutions, and Cover.

Sorrel enjoys fishing, and like Matt is a keen supporter of River Plate. She has a dog called Harry, and two cats called Henry and Honey, all of which are very difficult to pronounce in Spanish.
